So, just to start off, I'm writing this late at night, so this won't be some of my best work. ANYWAY, let's jump right in. (Note: I'm not sure how the pictures are going to work because I'm using my iPod to write this, so you might have to scroll down to the bottom of the post to find them... SORRY IN ADVANCE!)
So I was forced to endure a long and boring car ride to San Fran that offered to entertainment except for what I had on my iPod, which was music.
When I finally got there, I was a bit surprised by how much it reminded me of Seattle in the sense of how close it was to the water and the massive amounts of homeless people. We parked the car in a parking garage for a scary grocery store, and walked down to Pier 39. On the way, I saw Alcatraz. Alcatraz is one of those places that I never want to go to because of how creepy it is, yet I have to go because 1) History 2) Percy Jackson and 3) Mythbusters.
While walking along Pier 39, and I'm pretty sure my dad got recruited as a Buddhist monk, because this monk came up to him and started talking to him in a different language (it wasn't Chinese, it was definately something else) and after awhile shook my dad's hand and walked away. Anyway, I also saw a ton of sea lions, which wasn't too exciting, but hey, wildlife.
For lunch, we ended up at the Rainforest Cafe. If you've been to a Rainforest Cafe, you have missed out on wonderful things. It's pretty much an overpriced Red Robin with animatronic jungle animals and fish tanks. What more would one want when eating their burgers than to have a creepy robot tiger roar at them?
Next, we went to Ghiradelli Square. CHOCOLATE. CHOCOLATE. CHOOOCOOOLAAAAATEEEEE. That was all I could think about the entire time. My parents were actually sitting there and reading the panels on the walls about the Square's history and the process of making the chocolate, and all I wanted was a free sample. I had to endure twenty minutes of reading to finally be rewarded with a milk chocolate and caramel square that I could find in my cupboards at home. Whoopie freaking doo. So the chocolate aspect part of the trip was pretty disappointing.
And lastly, CHINATOWN. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chinatowns. When I went to New York, New York, the one place I wanted to go was Chinatown, which we never actually went to, so my parents guarenteed that we would go to this one. Now, you might ask: "Skye, why on Earth do you love Chinatowns so much?" Well, I'm gonna tell you why. Chinatowns are filled with junk gift shops and really cheap and pretty jewellery. Did I mention that everything is dirt cheap? You want an embroided coin purse? Fifty cents. Boba Fett bobble-head? Five dollars. This is why Chinatowns rock. I was on the hunt for a lucky cat statuette, because in one of my many, many moves, the movers broke a lucky cat statuette that I had gotten from Pike's Place Market in Seattle. I wanted to replace it, because I love lucky cats. They're so cute!
Anyway, that was my trip. I hope to pictures get uploaded otherwise I'm not going to be happy... Oh, well!
